Shaun recently worked with local constituent, Tony Roper, to get the landmark Lion statues on Great Bridge cleaned by Sandwell Council after years of neglect.
Tony Roper got the council to install the Lions on the roundabout in 2002, to mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee, before officially gifting them in 2016.
Whilst gifting the statues, Mr Roper agreed a contract with Sandwell Council that the statues would be cleaned every year. Unfortunately, when Mr Roper came to Shaun in May of this year, the Council were not keeping to this agreement.
Following on from the results of the Great Bridge Island Survey, Shaun and his Constituency Office team worked with Mr Roper to ensure the Council would finally clean the statues.
After over 4 months of resistance from Sandwell Council, the Lions were finally cleaned by contractors in August. Mr Roper thanked Shaun and his team for all of his and their work.
