On Friday 5 November, Shaun Bailey MP visited Kew Technology's Sustainable Energy Centre in Wednesbury.
In the UK, over 44.7 million tonnes of British waste is sent to landfill every year. The UK waste market is predicted to be worth £5 Billion over the next 5 years. Shaun is so pleased to see that in the heart of the Black Country is KEW, a sustainable energy solutions company.
Its Sustainable Energy Centre demonstrates their Advanced Conversion Technology to extract the maximum value from residual waste. They do so at a much lower carbon footprint, and produce a wide range of energy products, such as sustainable diesel and sustainable aviation fuels.
The technologies demonstrated are looking to be implemented in a range of different industries that are currently 'difficult to decarbonise' such as steel, glass and brick production. They will also shortly be demonstrating diverse and innovative carbon capture technologies.
Shaun was incredibly impressed with the technology being demonstrated, and looks forward to seeing the technology implemented across Wednesbury, Oldbury, and Tipton.
