On 13 July, Shaun met with representatives from Barclays Bank to discuss the upcoming closure of the Oldbury branch, which is scheduled to take place on Friday 24 September.
The closure of banking facilities acts not only as an inconvenience to all local customers, but rather has the potential to exclude the digitally marginalised from our society. Since being elected, Shaun has continuously spoken out about this important matter.
Barclays is aware of the strength of feeling there is locally about this matter and has assured me that they will do all they can to address customers’ concerns - Shaun was notified that all customers have been written to notifying them of the closure.
The closure of the Barclays Oldbury branch is no doubt disappointing, especially after the closure of the Wednesbury branch in 2019. However, Barclays has provided Shaun with a number of resources to assist with the closure - these resources are attached below.
