Shaun Bailey, MP for Wednesbury, Oldbury and Tipton, questioned the Government about Liberty Steel. He expressed concern regarding the support employees of Liberty Steel based in Oldbury would receive and requested further assurances on how the broader steel industry would be assisted through the decarbonisation of the economy.
The Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng, referred him to the Industrial decarbonisation strategy and gave wider assurances regarding the Government's commitment to the future of the steel industry in the United Kingdom.
