As your local MP, I am continuing to fight hard for the residents of Thomas Cox Wharf and Alexander Grange. Since I was alerted to the unadopted road on Thomas Cox Wharf and Alexandra Grange developments in Tipton, it has remained an ongoing campaign for me and my office.
I recently sent an update to all residents affected which included a response from the Leader of Sandwell Council, Cllr Kerrie Carmichael regarding the road adoption. It is clear to say that I was not happy with the response I received from Cllr Carmichael.
In the letter the Council outlined that they had only heard from a select group of individuals and had not had a comprehensive petition from the residents. That’s why I have been out today knocking on doors with the petition to highlight the strength of feeling amongst residents on this issue across the estates.
So please Sign our petition and if there is anything else I can help with please contact my constituency office with the contact details enclosed.

Alexandra Grange – Residents Petition to Sandwell MBC
We, the undersigned residents in and around Alexandra Grange, Tipton after many years of unjust and unfair treatment, demand that Sandwell MBC complete the necessary works to the highways so that the roads and sewers may be adopted.
The residents of Alexandra Grange, Tipton demand the following:
- Complete remediation works to roads and highways to the appropriate standard as was always the requirement when homes were sold on the development, so that adoption can take place
- Site safety and clearance; removal of all heras fencing, hoarding and builders rubbish that still remains on the estate
- Treatment and maintenance of overgrowth of weeds and shrubs, particularly in areas that now pose a risk to safety of the public. This includes the swale area.
- Complete remediation works to sewers and drains as per the requirements of planning application.
- Complete remediation to site lighting where necessary for the safety of residents, public and service users.
- Complete the landscaping and shrubbery installation as outlined in planning documents
- A full explanation into why the required payments from Mar City/Aurora were not received whilst Mar City/Aurora were still trading
- Written evidence that the necessary due diligence was carried out to ensure the development was being built to the requirements of the planning conditions
- Written evidence that that confirms the estate was always intended to be a private road and the date upon which this was agreed with Sandwell Council and Mar City/Aurora
- Sandwell Council to apply for national government funding to complete all remediation works.
